Patients, families, clinicians and supporters came together in Birmingham for our 2026 Annual Patient Event. Watch our six-minute film capturing some of the conversations, experiences and connections from the day.

A day of learning, sharing and connection

Our Annual Patient Event is an opportunity for people affected by Aortic Dissection to come together with the clinicians, researchers, volunteers and others working to improve diagnosis, treatment and support.

The 2026 event brought our community together in Birmingham for a programme combining expert presentations with lived patient experience. Throughout the day, speakers explored the aorta and Aortic Dissection from very different perspectives — from understanding the condition itself and developments in patient care, to recovery, financial support and the realities of life after an Aortic Dissection.

Just as importantly, the event provided an opportunity to meet others who understand that experience. Conversations continued away from the stage as patients and families shared experiences, renewed friendships and made new connections.

More from our 2026 Annual Patient Event

We're also making presentations from the event available to watch in full.

The talks cover a wide range of subjects, including understanding the aorta, patient experiences of Type A and Type B Aortic Dissection, remote monitoring and the Virtual Ward, financial and practical support following Aortic Dissection, and the challenges and realities of complex aortic surgery.

We'll be adding these films to our website and YouTube channel, creating a lasting resource that patients, families and healthcare professionals can return to and share.
