Registration Opens for Aortic Dissection Awareness Annual Patient Event 2026
We are delighted to announce that registration is now open for Aortic Dissection Awareness Annual Patient Event 2026, our annual patient event bringing together survivors, families, healthcare professionals and supporters from across the UK and Ireland.
The event will take place in Birmingham on Friday 18 September 2026, as we join the global community in marking Aortic Dissection Awareness Day 2026.
Registration open now.
A Day Built Around the Patient Experience

For many people affected by aortic dissection, meeting others who truly understand the journey can be life-changing.
Our annual patient event provides a unique opportunity to learn more about aortic disease, hear from both patients and healthcare professionals, and connect with others whose lives have been touched by this rare but life-threatening condition.
Whether you experienced a dissection recently or many years ago, are supporting a loved one, work in healthcare, or are remembering someone special, you will be warmly welcomed.

Exploring the Journey from Emergency to Everyday Life
The 2026 programme follows the patient journey from the moment of diagnosis through treatment, recovery and life after dissection.
Sessions will explore:
- Understanding the aorta and aortic dissection
- Recognising symptoms and obtaining a diagnosis
- Emergency care and surgery
- Advances in treatment and technology
- Recovery, aftercare and long-term follow-up
- Driving, benefits and practical daily challenges
- Improving services for future patients
Alongside expert insight and lived experience, attendees will hear powerful patient stories that reflect the reality of living with aortic disease.

More Than an Educational Event
While the programme is packed with informative sessions, many previous attendees tell us that the most valuable part of the day is the opportunity to meet fellow survivors and families face-to-face.
Friendships are formed, experiences are shared, and people often discover that they are not alone in navigating the challenges that can follow aortic dissection.
Refreshment breaks and lunch will provide plenty of opportunities to meet members of our community, speak with healthcare professionals and continue conversations throughout the day.

Remembering Those We Have Lost
As part of the event, we will also take time to remember friends and loved ones who are no longer with us, reflecting on why awareness, education and improved outcomes remain so important.
Book Your Place
Attendance is free of charge, but places are limited and advance booking is essential.
We expect strong interest from across the UK and Ireland, so we encourage anyone wishing to attend to reserve their place early.
We look forward to welcoming our community together once again for a day of learning, support, remembrance and hope.
