Patient pioneer reunited with surgeons at national conference
Posted on 18th March 2024
Sarah Nuttman, the first UK patient to have a surgical repair of her Aorta using the new Thoracoflo™ Aortic graft from Terumo Aortic, has been reunited with her surgeons at the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery Annual Meeting in Wales.
Just two months on from her surgery, Sarah, who is attending #SCTS2024 as a member of the Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland patient charity team, was delighted to meet Mr. Jorge Mascaro and Prof. Dr. Sabine Wipper, who carried out the complex Aortic repair in January.
Mr. Mascaro will be presenting the 1st UK Thoracoflo™ case at the conference on Monday morning and Sarah will be in the audience. "I'm slightly nervous, but it will be fascinating to learn about everything that was involved", Sarah said.
To celebrate the occasion, Sarah's account of her pioneering surgery has been published as a patient story on the national patient charity's website.
