Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland Attends the Vascular Societies’ Annual Scientific Meeting 2025

The Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland (VSGBI) is the leading professional organisation for vascular specialists across the UK and Ireland. Its mission is to advance the science, education, and practice of vascular surgery. Through its annual scientific meeting, training initiatives, clinical guidelines, and research collaborations, the VSGBI provides an essential platform for sharing innovation, supporting clinical excellence and shaping the future of vascular care.

The Society has partnered with our team on the THINK AORTA campaign since 2018, and this year marked the first time Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland was invited to exhibit at their flagship meeting.

Representing the charity were Anne Cotton (Chair) and Emma Hope (Aortic Specialist Nurse), who attended to promote awareness of aortic dissection and showcase the charity’s growing range of resources including the patient guides. Over the three days, our leadership team engaged with vascular surgeons, nurses, vascular scientists, medical students, and a wide variety of allied health professionals working across the vascular field.

“It was an excellent opportunity to showcase our many patient guides and encourage hospitals and aortic centres to order copies for use by their own aortic dissection patients. We were made very welcome and encouraged to attend several future conferences.”

Anne Cotton (Chair)

“The VSGBI Annual Scientific Meeting was a very worthwhile conference to attend, particularly as we were able to raise awareness of type B dissections and emphasise the importance of ongoing support and advice for these patients post-diagnosis.”

Emma Hope (Aortic Specialist Nurse)

Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland looks forward to strengthening its collaboration with the VSGBI and continuing to improve outcomes for patients through education, advocacy, and partnership.
