Acute Aortic Dissection in Southern England - Oxford
Join us in Oxford on 1st March as the national patient charity for Aortic Dissection formally endorses the launch of the first regional implementation of the NHS England Acute Aortic Dissection Toolkit to achieve our approval.

A multi-disciplinary team of clinicians led by our good friends Prof. George Krasopoulos (Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Oxford) and Mr. Marcus Brooks (Vascular Surgeon, Bristol) has worked hard for more than a year to develop a supra-regional approach to the problem of acute Aortic Dissection that will improve the care available to 15 million people living across the South West and South East of England, outside London.
Responding to patient demand for improvements in the AAD pathway and to feedback from the patient charity on their ideas, the team has become the first in the UK to publish a new Standard Operating Procedure for AAD that is endorsed by Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland. The Chair of the patient charity, Mr. Gareth Owens, who will be speaking at the event, says: "This initiative represents a huge step forward for the care of AAD patients in the SW and SE of England. I am delighted by the patient-centred approach that the team has taken, engaging with the national patient charity from the outset and responding to our feedback. As a result, it's a great pleasure to be able to recognise this document as the first regional AAD SOP to achieve formal endorsement from Aortic Dissection Awareness UK & Ireland and the THINK AORTA campaign."
